Our Story

The Spark Behind EquiForensics

In 2016, while working with the United Nations, founder and CEO Melinda Mancebo received a discreet request from a foreign embassy: investigate the case of two prisoners claiming innocence. After inspecting the local forensic lab, she was alarmed to find substandard practices producing unreliable evidence that were accepted by the justice system without question. That moment exposed how both missing and flawed forensic science can shatter human lives.

Witnessing similar systemic shortcomings across other countries, Melinda resigned from the UN to build a dependable, just future and founded EquiForensics to advance forensic justice beyond political and administrative limits.
